2nd Workshop on neutrons in medicine and homeland security

2nd Workshop on neutrons in medicine and homeland security is organized by the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. The conference will take place September 12 – 13, 2019 and it is divided into two parts. The first day of the conference will be dedicated Boron Neutron Capture Therapy, the second one will be focused on the novel techniques in neutron generation, detection and dose monitoring. The event will be held at the Marian Smoluchowski Institute of Physics of the Jagiellonian University. This event is organized to bring together scientists from physics, nuclear medicine and healthcare to talk about the possibilities of implementing BNCT radiotherapy in Poland and the use of neutrons in homeland security.

3rd Jagiellonian Symposium on Fundamental and Applied Subatomic Physics

3rd Jagiellonian Symposium on Fundamental and Applied Subatomic Physics, is organised by the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. The conference will take place June 23 – 28, 2019 in Collegium Maius, the oldest building of the university founded in XIV century. Following the success of first meeting organised in 2015 and second meeting in 2017, this event is a continuation to once again bring together scientists from physics, nuclear medicine and healthcare. One of the main purposes of the Jagiellonian Symposium is to exchange experience and expertise gained by various institutions in the field of applied and fundamental nuclear as well as atomic and particle physics, medical imaging, radiotherapy and healthcare. The symposium will be a showcase for forefront experimental as well as theoretical developments, where the interplay between outstanding research and innovative concepts on the borderline between basic and applied science will be promoted.

Discrete Symmetries in Particle, Nuclear and Atomic Physics and implications for our Universe

The workshop on "Discrete symmetries in particle, nuclear and atomic physics and implications…” will bring together about 35 world-leading experts and young scientists working on the exploration of discrete symmetries, both in theory and experimental sectors. Questions as: Why do we observe a Universe of only matter? Are the discrete symmetries, such as CPT, Lorentz or spin-statistics violated? How are they tested in particle, nuclear and atomic systems, and which are the implications for our Universe? will be at the core of the workshop which will provide a state-of-the-art overview on discrete symmetries research performed worldwide by pioneering and leading groups.

3rd Symposium on Positron Emission Tomography and 1st Symposium on Boron Neutron Capture Therapy

3rd Symposium on Positron Emission Tomography is organised by the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. The conference will take place September 10 – 13, 2018, then we will follow with the 1st Symposium on Boron Neutron Capture Therapy, which will take place September 14 – 15, 2018. Both events will be held at the Marian Smoluchowski Institute of Physics of the Jagiellonian University. Following the success of first meeting organised in 2013 and second in 2014, this event is a continuation to once again bring together scientists from physics, nuclear medicine and healthcare.
We plan to make all presentations available on-line on the WWW page but there are no plans to publish proceedings of the symposia.
Both symposia are free of charge.

MESON2018 Conference

The Institute of Physics of Jagiellonian University, Forschungszentrum Jülich, INFN-LNF Frascati and Institute of Nuclear Physics PAS Cracow are organizing a biennial workshop to establish closer contacts between experimentalists and theorists involved in the studies of meson production, properties and interaction. The workshop will cover lectures on both experimental and theoretical aspects, in particular the presentation of new results.

The main topics of the workshop are:

  • hadronic and electromagnetic meson production,
  • meson interaction with mesons, nucleons and nuclei,
  • structure of hadrons,
  • fundamental symmetries,
  • exotic systems,
  • novel approaches in theory and experiment.

The intention is to provide an overview of the present status in these fields, as well as of new developments, and a preview of the forthcoming investigations. This workshop - the fifteenth of the series - will maintain the tradition of the workshops organized since 1991 at Cracow. The proceedings of the MESON2016 workshop have been published in EPJ Web of Conferences Vol. 130 (2016).
A poster session is foreseen as an opportunity for students and young scientists to present the results of their work. There will be a competition for the best posters. Apart from attractive prizes, the author of the best poster will be asked to present her/his work orally during one of the sessions on Monday afternoon.
